HONESDALE -- Wayne County District Attorney A.G. Howell announced the arrest of Ethan Riggs, 20, of Lake Township for Aggravated Assault of a Child, an first degree felony and Endangering the Welfar of Child, a second-degree felony.
State Polie Trooper Michael Collins responded to a home for an unresponsive one-year-old chld. The baby was transportated to Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton before being transferred to Geisinger Hospital, Danville, where the baby underwent survery for a brain bleed, allegedly caused by a strong blow to the left side of the boby's head.
Initially, the trooper said, Riggs and other family member did not give any explanation for the head injuries.
During interview, the defendant told the investigating troopers that he pushed the child causing the baby to hit his hed and allegedly had a seizure.
Rigs is being held in the Wayne County Correctional Facilty on $100,000 bail.
