[ARCHIVED] NY Man Turns Himself in to Face Felony Drug Charges from Festival

Wayne County District Attorney A.G. Howell announced the arrest of Philip Dayton, age 29, of East Meadow, NY. He was charged with Possession With Intent to Distribute Controlled Substances, a felony, Possession of Controlled Substances, a misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

According to the police criminal complaint affidavit of probable cause filed by the Wayne County Detectives, the charges stem from an incident that took place on September 4, 2021 at the Elements Music Festival in Buckingham Township, Wayne County, PA. Security officers from the festival encountered Dayton after he illegally re-entered the festival after being removed. They searched his bag and found substantial quantities of psilocybin mushrooms, cocaine and ketamine. The security officers were assisted by Preston Township Constable Banks and Deputy Constable Mead.

An arrest warrant was issued for Dayton on October 29, 2021. However, he was not found or taken into custody until July 27, 2022, when he turned himself in to the Wayne County Detectives. He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Bates and bail was set at $50,000.00 unsecured. His next court appearance is scheduled for August 3, 2022 at 9:00 am in the Wayne County Courthouse.

District Attorney A.G. Howell stated that these charges were the combined efforts of private security, constables and the Wayne County Detectives working together to keep our community safe.
