HONESDALE -- Wayne County District Attorney A.G. Howell announced the arrest of Nicole Schmidt, 35, of Scranton.
Schmidt is charged with a two counts of drug delivery resulting in death, two Counts of delivery of a controlled substance, and one count of criminal use of a communication facility. The criminal complaint alleges on October 1, 2019, Schmidt sold heroin/fentanyl to John Klikus and Karrie Klikus of Canaan Township. Soon after the drug transaction, John and Karrie died after overdosing on the drugs purchased from Schmidt.
Toxicology reports on both revealed Fentanyl, Oxycodone and other drugs were responsible for their accidental deaths, drugs which police traced back to Schmidt.
A preliminary arraignment was held by the Honorable District Judge Linus Myers for the charges. Judge Myers set bail at $50,000.00. A central court appearance for the charges is set for October 6, 2021.
