HONESDALE – The Wayne County Area Agency on Aging is working with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers to make sure that seniors who lack Internet or homebound seniors will be able to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in the near future.

Mary Ursich, the Wayne County Area Agency on Aging administrator, said her agency and other Area Agencies on Aging throughout the state have been working with the Pennsylvania Department of Health to make sure vaccines will be available for seniors in every county in the state who have not been able to schedule an appointment yet.

A plan in place with Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers has resulted in seniors without Internet access being able to call the Wayne County Area Agency on Aging at 570-253-4262 to schedule an appointment for a vaccination. Assistance with transportation is also available for those who need it, through the Wayne County Transportation Department.

Home appointments are also being scheduled for those who are physically unable to come to clinics in person. By calling 570-253-4262 homebound seniors can be added to the list for an in-home vaccination.
