HONESDALE -- The students from the Geisinger School of Medicine offer a special program at the Earl J. Simons Senior Center on Tuesday and Wedensday, October 8 and 9, from 10 am to 1 pm.
The medical students will be available at the center that day to talk about hypertension, better known as high blood pressure. They can answer questions about how hypertension is works, what puts people at risk of developing the condition. They can also learn how to improve their blood pressure, learn the importance of diet and exercise. The students will also examine the relationship between smoking and high blood pressure.
There is no charge for the program, but a hot, nutritious meal is served each weekday at 12 noon at a cost of just $2 for those age 60 and over just call at least 24 hours in advance for a reservation.
