HONESDALE – Wayne Area Agency on Aging participates in the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program that provides $20 worth of vouchers to eligible seniors.
The vouchers will be distributed through the Wayne County Seniors Centers, including the Hawley Center on Tuesday, June 25, from 10 am to 12 noon, the Hamlin Center on Friday, June 28, from 10 am to 12 noon, and the Honesdale Center on Monday, July 1 from 8:30m am until they are gone. Vouchers will also be distributed at the five Wayne County Food Pantries in June.
The program, sponsored by the PA Department of Agriculture, is open to Wayne County residents age 60 (by Dec. 31) and older. To receive the vouchers, seniors must bring proof of age in the form of a driver’s license, ID card or birth certificate and proof of residency in the form of a utility bill showing a street address.
Income guidelines range from $23,107 for one person to $32,384 for two people.
When picking up vouchers for someone else, even for a spouse or with a power of attorney, you must have a signed proxy form. One can be mailed or faxed by calling the aging office at 570-253-4262 or drop by any of the senior centers prior to the distribution date. You will need to bring proof of age and residence on the day of the distribution as well as the form.
