HONESDALE (May 16, 2017) – The world presents many dangers, especially for children, and the eighth annual Wayne County Safety Fair for Kids helps families better understand those potential threats.
The free event Saturday, May 11, from 10 am to 1 pm at the Park Street Complex in Honesdale gathers many groups to talk about everything from bicycle and ATV safety to gun safety and car seat checks.
Families can get a free bike helmet while they last, free smoke detectors and gun locks along with a car seat replacement if needed and much more. Agencies participating in the event, held rain or shine, include Wayne Memorial Hospital, the Wayne County Business and Professional Women, Wayne County’s Drug & Alcohol Commission, Sheriff’s Office, Emergency Management and Cooperative Extension, along with the National Park Service and the PA Fish & Boat Commission.
Each child who visits at least half of the “Safety Tables” at the fair will be entered to win a new bicycle, donated by Elegante’s Restaurant in Honesdale.
Free refreshments, including hot dogs and ice cream, will be served, and handouts will be available.
