[ARCHIVED] Maple Research Takes Center Stage at Annual Meeting

BETHANY -- The Northeastern PA Maple Producers Annual Meeting features a video presentation by Mark Isselhardt on maple research from the University of Vermont.

The meeting begins at 9 am Saturday, Jan. 19. with registration, coffee and refreshments at the Bethany United Methodist Church, it will also include the election of directors, annual updates, and a scientific presentation by Maple Sweetheart Katie Nebzydoski. The members will discuss results from the PA Farm Show, now underway in Harrisburg, along with equipment displays set up by Shemanski Maple and Justus Asthalter Maple. The annual meeting will begin at 10 am.

Pennsylvania Grade Labels will be available for purchase ($6.50/roll of 1,000), and annual membership dues will be collected, $25 (>100 gallons) or $20 (<100 gallons). Open House signs and stakes will also be available for pickup, dates for this year’s event are March 16th and 17th.

 If you are interested in attending this event please call the Wayne County Extension office at 570.253.5970 ext. 4110, or email by Monday, January 14 to reserve your ticket for the noon meal of pancakes, eggs, home fries, sausage, and 100% pure Pennsylvania maple syrup! The cost for the meal is $9, payable at registration that morning.
