[ARCHIVED] Man Faces Charges of Soliciting Another to Commit Homicide

HONESDALE – Wayne County Detectives arrested Robert Malpasse, 49, of Moscow Tuesday on one count of criminal homicide, multiple counts of aggravated assault and two counts of stalking, most of which are felonies.

District Attorney Patrick L. Robinson said Malpasse conspired with a co-conspirator to stalk the estranged wife of Malpasse and solicited the co-conspirator to kill the woman’s boyfriend, Matt Gregory.

In the affidavit of probable cause, the detectives allege Malpasse placed a GPS tracking device on the woman’s vehicle, solicited a co-conspirator to plant drugs on Gregory, obtain compromising photos of him and text them to his estranged wife.

He is also charged with supplying the co-conspirator with a white powder to put in Gregory’s drink, allegedly saying he had provided enough of the stuff to kill someone. Detectives say Malpasse solicited the co-conspirator to destroy evidence of this criminal episode.

All of this activity took place when Malpasse was the subject of an active PFA Order filed against him by his estranged wife. He was arraigned before District Justice Ronald Edwards and was remanded to the Wayne County Correctional Facility without bail.

DA Robinson stated, “Domestic violence is a big problem in society today. This case is a rather extreme manifestation of the problems caused by jealousy."
