[ARCHIVED] PennDOT Crews Plan to Improve 130+ Miles of Roads in 2018


HONESDALE – Officials from PennDOT District 4 have released the 2018 map of construction and re-surfacing projects in Wayne County, with the vast majority of work scheduled in the southern half of the county with about 100 miles of surface improvements south of South Canaan and Hoadleys.

Contractors will be handling the work on just over four miles of Rock Lake Road, mostly in Preston Township, the reconstruction of part of I-84 and a bridge project on Interstate 380 in Lehigh Township as well as bridge projects at Narrowsburg and Kellam’s Bridges over the Delaware River.

Some of the projects began last year and others are set to be bid this time around, however the work my span beyond the 2018 construction season.

Other projects in the north and central part of the county include resurfacing of more than 10 miles of Calkins Road, Galilee and Smith Hill Roads in Damascus and Oregon Townships, and Tanners Falls and Beech Grove Roads, primarily in Dyberry Township.

Significant portions of Routes 196, 296, and 507 are set to receive surface treatments, along with smaller portions of Routes 590, 690 and 423.  Surface improvements are also scheduled on Avoy, Maplewood/Silkmans, Goose Pond and Ledgedale Roads as well as Lake Shore Drive, Spring Hill, Forks Bridge, Neville, St. Mary’s Church and Pond Roads.

Others on the list include Callapoose, Bidwell Hill, Advent, Tresslarville, Keystone, Lake Henry, Freight House, Fernwood, Old Tannery, Tuthill, East Shore, Tisdel and La Anna Roads.

PennDOT crews will also be conducting crack sealing and line painting, making repairs to guiderails and median barriers as well as trimming trees throughout the county.
