[ARCHIVED] Alzheimer's Association Recruits Group Facilitators

alzheimers-association LOGO

WAYNE COUNTY -- The Alzheimer's Association is in need of volunteer caregiver support group facilitators throughout Northeastern PA.

Support groups create a safe, confidential, supportive environment or community and a chance for participants to develop informal mutual support and social relationships. They also educate and inform participants about dementia and help participants develop methods and skills to solve problems.

The groups encourage caregivers to maintain their own personal, physical and emotional health as well as optimally care for the person with dementia. In addition, they may provide a needed break from caregiving responsibilities.

Facilitators will be trained and supported by the local office of the Alzheimer's Association. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a facilitator or other volunteer opportunities, please contact Kristen Shipsky MSW, CDP at 570-822-9915 x4021 or kshipsky@alz.org.

Thank you for your consideration and for helping to #endalz!!
