HONESDALE -- The Wayne Conservation District seeks applicants to fill a full-time position as the Dirt, Gravel & Low Volume Roads Specialist through Friday March 30.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and conducting all aspects of the program, ensuring that the District is in compliance with all state requirements. This includes soliciting applications from municipalities, ensuring municipalities understand the program and its requirements, assessing and prioritizing the proposed projects, assisting municipalities in on-site reviews of the of the work, oversight of the road work, and reviewing the projects for the Quality Assurance Board (QAB) Board and the Wayne Conservation District’s Board of Directors. In addition, the position may be required to cross train with other staff members and assist them as needed.
Candidates should have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in the natural resource management or related field and/or equivalent experience in construction/earth-moving activities/natural resource management, and must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to a wide range of individuals and groups. You will also need a valid Driver's License and vehicle.
The position pays $29,919 a year, with more for completed degree programs. The position comes under the Wayne County employment system and includes full-time employment benefits and paid time off.
